The Secret Life of a Real Estate Agent

Placester recently did a survey of 137 real estate agents from around the country.  Their goal is to bring more transparency to the real estate world so new agents know what to expect.  Remember, this is just a small sampling of current agents, but some of the statistics below really show the trends of real estate.

  • Your sphere of influence is important in real estate.  Daily, 60% of real estate agents spend time daily prospecting for leads.
  • If you are looking to cut back in the number of hours you work each week, real estate may not be the place you want to look at.  In this survey, 78% of agents worked at least 30 hours a week.
  • It is important to have some money saved before getting into the business.  78% of the agents were on the job for six months or more before this career could support them financially.
  • Most agents like their job and stay with it for many years.  65% of this survey said they had been an agent for at least 4 years.
